But as reputable as these platforms are they still have Pro’s and Con’s attached to them.

I would be comparing these platform based on the following criteria.

  • Control.
  • Search Engine Optimization.
  • Plugins.
  • Popularity.
  • Themes and Design.
  • Monetization.

Control is the ability to have total power over something to be able to take it to wherever you like.

Blogger By Google.

When it comes to control you are very limited when making decision is Blogger.

When making use of Google Blogger platform, your website sits on Google’s host and this can be very dangerous for you.

Your blog can be accidentally deleted by Google itself,

Google can choose to remove your Blog if you are reported by a spammer and a whole lot things can go wrong.

WordPress have two version and they are self-hosted ones and the free version .

The issue of control is quite different when using the self-hosted version of wordpress.
You have control over your website when using the self-hosted version of WordPress.

You can simply modify scripts, customize your website to your full taste and do many other amazing things.

In conclusion, You have total control in WordPress than on Blogspot

2. Search Engine Optimization.

Search engine optimization in simple words means Optimizing your blog for search engines and getting traffic from search engine.

Search engines are the best and surest source for getting traffic if you really want to make it as a blogger and you should always take it into consideration before starting out as a blogger.

Blogger By Google.

Blogger is as a blogging platform has very low SEO capabilities and is one thing why Blogger is not recommended for online businesses.

WordPress as a self-hosted platform is built to support many plugins and technical in most of which are created purposely for search engine optimization.

In actual sense, WordPress has more SEO capabilities than it fellow counterpart Blogger.

3. Plugins.

Plugins are external features in software component that adds a specific feature to an existing computer program.

When a program supports plug-ins, it enables customization.

Both Blogger and WordPress supports plugins but only one Supports it more.

Blogger By Google.

Plugins on Blogger platform are designed by Google developers themselves and are very few.
No third party is however allowed to customize plugins let alone add it alongside the prebuilt plugins by Google.

This has however slimmed down the abilities of Blogger powered sites.

There are over a million plugin on WordPress mostly by third party organisations.

This has however made WordPress more popular than any other blogging platform.

Plugins are created based on various categories from security, E commerce, Logistics, SEO and the likes.

You can however checkout the plethora of awesome WordPress plugins on the WordPress plugin store.

4. Popularity.

This section is going to elaborate more on most use cases of both platforms.

Blogger By Google.

According to BuiltWith Blogger currently has over 1 Million users over the internet.

With Nigeria being the second most used nation in the world.

WordPress currently has over 27 Million live users worldwide making it the most used blogging CMS.

5. Themes and Design.

Theme and design deals with the appearance of your blog.

This is one of the most important factor to consider when starting out your blog.

Blogger By Google.

Blogger BY Google have very lean theme and design functionalities .

You only have access to few theme design by Google and they can be found in Your Blogger dashboard.

You can as well get other themes from third party websites but they are very lean and difficult to customize.

Talking about a plethora of awesome themes and design.

This can only be found in WordPress.

Online stores and platforms like ThemeForest allows you to download and use various themes by third party designers.

In conclusion WordPress has more design capabilities and access to themes than Blogger.

Monetization is a term used to describe various processes.

In banking the term refers to the process of converting or establishing something into legal tender.

Monetization in Blogging simply deals with the conversion of your blog into a money making engine.

Initially, Blogger used to be the best way to get your AdSense account approved, but later on, it’s becoming tough to get your Adsense account with BlogSpot.

Blogger By Google.

Blogger only supports a very few monetization platform and it is called Google Adsense.

Google Adsense is owned by Google and it comes inbuilt by default whenever you create a blog.

You dont get approved immediately until after a few months of being active.

Other monetization techniques are not built into Blogger by default.

When you are not blogging for money, or you need a simple platform which doesn’t require any technical know-how then Blogger is very good for you

WordPress support various monetization techniques and some of them are E commerce, Adsense and Native advertising.
