One yardstick used to measure the success of any online business is how many visitors and users it attracts each day.
The number of daily users or clicks that a website attracts is traffic. Traffic is a way to show that your website or online platform is doing well.
You will not be able to monetise your website or blog if you are not getting enough traffic; the bottom line is that you should not be discouraged or worried; when you start a website for the first few months, you will likely not get the result you expected.
You might do a lot by writing articles, trying to reach other bloggers, guest posting, and even hardcore search engine optimisation. Still, everything on the internet takes a little time to get the needed attraction.
Forms Of Traffic.
There are various ways in which a website can attract traffic, and they are.
1. Organic/ Unpaid Traffic.
Organic or Unpaid traffic is a form of traffic that you don’t pay for. They are either from search engines or direct queries from their respective browsers.
2. Paid Traffic.
Paid traffic is a form of traffic you pay to get; they usually come in search engine marketing and paid social media Ads.
My Personal Experience.
When I started this blog, I was not so new to the internet because I had already failed in my previous attempt; after then, I decided to equip myself with the proper knowledge by learning hardcore web development and search engine optimisation.
And just after a few years, I started this, and I must tell you that it has been an excellent experience.
Here is an article I recommend that you read to learn about my past blogging mistakes and learn from them.
To bolster more on my personal experience when trying to get traffic to my new website, it was not easy at all in the first few months; I initially started by trying to get traffic from social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, but it did not work for my blog niche.
I had little knowledge of SEO, and it initially backfired; the first three months of running my website were nothing to write home about, and then I decided that I still did not understand some things.
I started doing more research on search engine optimisation, and finally, I was there I knew what I was doing wrong and what I needed to improve on.
At the end of this section, I will drop a link to my article on how to learn SEO for beginners; click the link and read more on it.
Going back to where I stopped, I mastered the art of search engine optimisation; I rewrote articles to suit Search engine standards and VOILA!!! There was an improvement. My traffic went up by 100%, and I got more views and comments.

Why Your Website Is Not Getting Traffic.
I must tell you, there are over 7 billion blogs/websites on the internet, but not all of them are getting the same amount of traffic, some are doing well than others, and so many factors cause this, and some of the significant factors are.
1. Buying Your Domain From A Poor Registrar.
If your domain and host registrar are terrible, be ready to face hell. When Google comes to crawl your website and is usually given a 504 error, then be sure that Google will relegate your website to the lowest rank ever, not to be seen by any potential finder.
I usually recommend you buy your domain from an excellent domain name registrar. I typically recommend Bluehost anytime; if you already have your website hosted somewhere else, you should consider changing.
Here is an article I recommend you read to help you get started with Bluehost.
2. Your Website Is new.
When you start a new website, there is high certainty that you will not get organic traffic for the first three months – six months, and this is because one of Google’s ranking factors is centred around the domain age and authority of your website.
So don’t be in a rush; when you create a new website, be patient and wait.
I usually recommend you make very excellent of the first three months to load your website with at least the first fifty contents aft; afterwards, you can then proceed to link building, aft; after months, your website should begin to see an increase in traffic.
3. You are Not Doing Keyword Research.
This is another factor that affects newbie bloggers. Don’t just think of any content and waste your time putting it all together; it’s no sense because if no one is searching for such an article on the internet, it becomes a waste of time.
Here is an article I recommend you read to get started with keyword research.
4. You are Bidding for Keywords That Are Too Competitive.
This is another factor that affects newbie bloggers. When. When you try to write for a competitive keyword, be sure not to get results as expected.
When seeking organic traffic, you should go for long-tail keywords, because they are less competitive and do not get too much competition, that way you can rank in just a matter of days or weeks.
To choose a Keyword to write for, make sure they are getting an average monthly search of 1000 and have a very low competition of at most 15; anything below 15 is a win.
5. Your Contents are Way Too Short.
In the world of search engine optimization, Content is King, many other factors cause a blog to rank but the content is significant.
I laugh when I see many bloggers trying to rank with concise content, they write their ideology without enough reference and keyword research; this will not get your blog traffic.
Google is adjusting its search engine to display a wealth of information to its end-user.
If you want to rank on Google and get enough traffic, you should write about 2000 words; anything from 2500 words is excellent.
I know that it is very hard, and you think it is challenging. Trust me, when I started this blog, it was tough for me because it was not in my nature to be a writer, but as time went on I started to learn.
Here is an article I recommend you read to help you start writing search engine optimised content.
6. You are Not Sharing On Social Media.
Another solid reason you are not getting traffic on your website is that you are not leveraging the power of social media.
Social Media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are websites where people come together to interact.
Sharing your content on social media can get it to the right people and may eventually lead to potential visitors to your website.
Here is an article I recommend you read to help you get started with Social Media.

I wrote a comprehensive guide on this blog to help you hack your way using Quora.
4. Email Marketing.
Email marketing is another potent way to get organic traffic to your website, but it comes with a price. Email marketing is more potent when you have a huge database of a targeted audience already subscribed to your email, an email list of only 100 people would not do you much good.
Do you want to grow your email list and turn it into a sales and marketing funnel then here is an article I recommend that you read
5. Use Medium.com
Medium is an online publishing platform developed by Evan Williams and started in August 2012.
Williams, previously co-founder of Blogger and Twitter, initially developed Medium as a way to publish writings and documents longer than Twitter’s 140-character (now 280-character) maximum.
Outreaching a global audience becomes very hard when you blog alone, the best way to get your content out there is to use publishing platforms like Medium.
All you need to do is create an account and share your thoughts; make sure that you link your blog or website when writing.
6. Online Forums.
One thing about online forums is that it varies by region or country.
If you seek traffic from the United States, you should explore forums like Reddit; especially online forums like Nairaland are native to Africa, mainly Nigeria.
So do make sure you research the geographic location where any online forum is more dominant.
Adding a YouTube channel to your site gives it more audience and reach, which can eventually be converted into traffic.
When people get a lot of good content solving their problems, they stay longer and like to come back and visit more often.
A nice side effect of adding the extra content is that it drives more traffic. This is because people can now find you on YouTube and your site. Of course, we still drive more traffic from our site to the YouTube channel than around, but we are starting to see some come the other way.
If you are YouTuber, you will discover that more features that support the use of links have been added, also included recently is the platform for discussion.
You can write articles on YouTube and link back to your website, writing an elaborate description in your video is also an amazing way to get traffic to your website.
Here is an article I recommend that you read to get started with YouTube.
8. Use Facebook Groups.
Everyone can set up and run their own Facebook Community, and you can even enter up to 6,000 other groups.
There are three types of groups on Facebook, depending on the group’s privacy settings:
Anyone can view the group, its members, and their posts.
Everyone can view the group and its members, but just the members will see the group posts.
Only members can see the group or any of its information. People who are not members won’t even be able to see that the group exists.
One thing about a Facebook group that is better than a Facebook page is that you can reach more people via a Facebook group than a Facebook page.
You have 10K members on your Facebook group; you can reach out to each of them anytime you make a post.
This is not the same for a Facebook page; less than 10% of your Facebook Fan page followers see your post.
which means you have to get a large number of followers on your Facebook page to be able to make a very huge impact.
9. Use LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is a social media with more than 400 million users and counting; it has emerged as the most useful social network for B2B marketers.
Other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and the rest are crowded and noisy and do not seek to convert as they used to be.
The continuous algorithm adjustment on these platforms has made it difficult for a blogger to promote links and get outstanding traffic.
This is your platform if you’re looking to drive traffic to your B2B blog. Unfortunately, the truth is that many business bloggers neglect one of the most effective social networks for growing visibility and traffic.
If you are a business owner or entrepreneur or a working person blogging, you should consider LinkedIn as a valuable place for getting more exposure.
Your LinkedIn profile can serve as one of your blog’s most important referral sources.
I wrote a comprehensive guide on how to get started with LinkedIn on this blog; follow the article below to get started.
10. Implement Schema For SEO.
Schema is the language of search engines; it helps search engines like Google understand what your webpage is all about.
This new form of optimisation is one of the most potent but least-utilized forms of SEO available today.
Once you understand the concept and method of schema markup, you can boost your website in the search engine result pages (SERPs).
Schema enables search engines to parse and interpret the information on your web pages more effectively to serve relevant results to users based on search queries.
Schema microdata can also be used to define and display rich snippets of your content in SERPs.
You need an SEO plugin like RankMath on WordPress to implement the Schema into your websites; most SEO plugins also execute similar tasks.
Getting traffic is not enough reason to generate enough money-making results, one way to check if you are making sense as a blogger is by taking a more profound insight into the health of your website.
There is a lot more to know than just having traffic, and one way to boost your session duration and bounce rate is by writing excellent content.
