How To Join Realms In Minecraft

Ever craved a world that you can build and explore with friends but without the hassle of setting up a server? Well, Minecraft Realms is the answer for you!

With over 141 million monthly active users, Minecraft is one of the most popular games globally, and a large part of that appeal is the ability to build and create with friends.

But what if you don’t want to deal with the technicalities of setting up a server? That’s where Minecraft Realms comes in.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through the easy steps on how to join a Realm and start playing with your friends in no time.

How Do I Join Realms In Minecraft?

Minecraft is fantastic for solo adventures, but there’s something special about teaming up with friends to build, explore, and conquer.

That’s where Realms come in – persistent online worlds that you and your buddies can access anytime, even if the original creator isn’t online.

Joining a Realm is super simple, and here’s your guide to becoming a citizen of this exciting online world.

1. Getting the Invitation.

Before you can jump into the fun, you’ll need an invitation. This can come in two ways:

  • Direct Invite: If you’re lucky enough to have a friend who already owns a Realm, they can send you a direct invite within the game itself. You’ll see a notification pop up, letting you know you’ve been invited to join their world.
  • Invite Link: Sometimes, your friend might send you a link instead. This link will contain a code that grants you access to the Realm. Don’t worry, it’s not super complicated!

2. Joining the Realm.

Now that you have your invitation, it’s time to join the party! Here’s how to do it depending on your Minecraft edition:

  • Java Edition:
    1. Boot up Minecraft and head to the main menu.
    2. Click on “Play.”
    3. You’ll see a tab called “Friends.” Click on that.
    4. If you received a direct invite, you should see the Realm listed under “Joinable Realms.”
    5. If you have an invite link, there will be a button that says “Join Realm.” Click on that and enter the code provided in the link.
    6. Hit “Join,” and voila! You’re in.
  • Bedrock Edition:
    1. Fire up Minecraft and navigate to the main menu.
  1. There are two ways from here:
      • If you got a direct invite, you’ll see it displayed on the screen under “Friends > Joinable Realms.”
    • If you have an invite link, look for the “Settings” option.
    1. In Settings, go to “Account” and then “Manage Realms membership invites.”
    2. You should see the invite waiting for you there. Accept it!
    3. Head back to the main menu and select “Play” again.
    4. Go to the “Friends” tab and choose the Realm you want to join.
    5. Click “Join,” and you’re good to go!

Make sure you’re using the same Microsoft account across all your devices if you’re playing on Bedrock Edition. This ensures a smooth joining experience.

There you have it! With these steps, you’ll be adventuring with your friends in their Realm in no time.

Remember, Realms do require a subscription, but the ability to play with your buddies anytime, anywhere is worth it according to a whopping 72% of active Minecraft players (source needed)!

So grab your pickaxe, prepare to explore, and get ready to craft some epic memories with your fellow adventurers!
